Translation Requirements
All documents to be used in the assessment for MMBP must be in English, or accompanied by certified translations.
- Applicants may only submit documents in English, or documents in other languages accompanied by a certified translation.
If you will be submitting a piece of evidence in a language other than English:- You must arrange for the document to be translated by a person who is certified to translate from that language into English.
- Acceptable translators must be fully certified members of one of the following organisations:
- Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA)
- Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC)
- Association of Translators and Interpreters of Saskatchewan (ATIS)
- Association of Translators, terminologists and Interpreters of Manitoba (ATIM)
- Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick (CTINB)
- Association of Translators and Interpreters of Nova Scotia (ATINS)
- Nunavut Interpreter / Translator Society (NKT)
- Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO)
OR - Full members in good standing of a full member association of the International Federation of Translators(FIT) appearing on the most recent list of FIT members at www.fit-ift.org AND they must have passed a certification examination and be obliged to uphold a code of ethics to maintain certification.
- The name and designation of the certified translator must be clearly identified on the translation.
- Translations must be word-for-word and literal as opposed to interpretive. They must also be in the same format as the original document.
- All translation costs will be paid by you.
- People, other than applicants, providing evidence to the MMBP office should respond in their own language if they are not fluent in English. When received at the MMBP office, these documents must then be translated by a certified translator, with associated costs paid by the applicant.
If another person or organization provides evidence in a language other than English:- You will be contacted by the MMBP office, and be instructed to complete a Form E confirming that you will pay the translation costs and that you authorize the translation.
- The MMBP office will send the evidence document to the certified translator.
- The translator will return the evidence document and provide a certified translation directly to the MMBP office.
- All translation costs will be paid by you.
- You will not see the evidence document that was provided as a result of your evidence request.
